Tortona Design Week 2013
Tortona Design Week is a side event at the Milan Furniture Fair, and takes place in the former industrial area behind Porta Genova between Via Tortona, Via Savona and Via Stendhal. It will be held between 9th-14th April 2013.
In an area of ½ km square of industrial buildings, now converted into creative environments by young talented designers and artists who animate this urban laboratory.
There are 200 exhibiting companies, 30,000 square metres of exhibition space, and over 100,000 visitors from all parts of the world which make this area a true hot spot for design week.
The founding partners of the event are Superstudio Group, Magna Pars, Tortona Locations, Estate4, experienced in creating and restoring areas to showcase creativity, fashion, design and art. The area is divided into thematic exhibitions: country, young designers, celebrities, high tech, green design and design at large.
An essential part is the Temporary Museum for New Design (open until 23rd), prepared by Superstudio and Giulio Cappellini in collaboration: 27 Via Tortona and Via Forcella 13/Bugatti 9. The main theme of the exhibition will be the evolution of design in all its forms.
I Taste Tortona is the food concept of Tortona Design Week, which brings together the culinary excellence of Lombardy with modern design.
Chefs of national and international fame will create recipes, using innovative design.
The farms in Milan and the surrounding area will be presented and visitors will have the opportunity to taste their products. In addition there will be debates about Food, Design and the Environment, Food Design and Performance of Food Art.
