Expo Gate for Milan 2015
The gateway to Expo 2015 has been inaugurated. Named Expo Gate, it will serve as a meeting and entertainment space and an information point for citizens and tourists in Milan. The ribbon was cut on Saturday 10th May, during a party enlivened by lots of music, performance and fine food. Highlights included the ‘Risata Colorata’ collaborative dish, created by some of today’s finest chefs, including Andrea Berton, Carlo Cracco and Davide Oldani, to name but a few.
It consists of two modular structures designed by Scandurrastudio, inserted discreetly into the urban fabric, so as not to interfere with the view from the telescope at the Sforzesco Castle. The Gate has been designed to accommodate images, flags and illuminated signs, indicating what is going on at Expo Milano 2015, and its vast expanses of glass will enable passers-by to see what is happening inside.
The Expo Gate will not just contain information about Expo Milano 2015 and the ticket office, it will also be a space where experiences can be enjoyed and shared, hosting a palimpsest of multimedia and interdisciplinary events curated by the journalist and critic Caroline Corbetta.
A programme, entitled ‘Expo Gate Worksite’, is already crammed with work in progress-style events to keep the public updated on the Expo Milano 2015 site and provide advance information on all the Expo cultural developments.
